Rockingham City are pleased to announce that James Harmer has re-signed ahead of the 2019 National Premier League WA season.
After a stellar season with Rockingham in 2018, scoring 15 goals in 15 games and captaining Rockingham City to its first Division 1 title in 42 years to secure promotion to the National Premier League, Harmer spoke of the highlights of last season, “Winning the title and gaining promotion to the NPL after everyone wrote us off at the beginning of the year was incredible to be a part of. To prove everyone wrong with such a great bunch of lads, with the togetherness and the feeling around the group, was absolutely brilliant.”
Harmer spoke of finding enjoyment in football again being a big factor in re-signing for Rockingham, “For me, last year was the first time I've enjoyed my football for a long time. Being involved in such a professional set up on and off the pitch was incredible. There was a big decision to make for the 2019 season but I am super happy to re-sign and super keen to get started.”
Finally, in what there is to look forward too in 2019 Harmer said, “To be honest with you, I am looking forward to proving more people wrong. Proving that with the players and the coaches that we have got, we can hold our own in the NPL and create a few more upsets. Who knows, why can't we go and do a Leicester?!”
Rockingham City first team coach Cameron Lord spoke of his delight that Harmer has continued his commitment to RCFC, “James was a massive part of our success last season, and he will be a big part of our continued success for the future.”
